Bill Introduced That Would Make Recreational Marijuana Legal In PA

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Pennsylvania State Rep. Jake Wheatley introduced legislation Monday that would make it legal for adults 21 and over to grow, purchase and use cannabis.

If the bill is passed it would make PA the 10th state to legalize recreational use of the drug.

It would also legalize the possession of cannabis edibles and allow a person to have  up to six plants but no more than three flowering or mature plants.

It would still be illegal to use marijuana in public or drive while under the influence of it.

The Allegheny County Democrat said that the bill would more importantly address those who have been jailed or have records due to crimes involving cannabis.

“My bill would immediately release people jailed for crimes associated with cannabis,” Wheatley said. “Those who have criminal histories related to cannabis would be expunged, and professional and driver’s licenses that were revoked or suspended
