Task force: Harmon man busted with 100 pounds of pot

HARMON – A 55-year-old Harmon man with a long history of dealing marijuana was arrested with 100 pounds of smokable, and edible, weed in his home, and the plants that produced it, police said Thursday.

David C. Smith is in Lee County Jail on $500,000 bond, charged with possession with intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams of marijuana, which is punishable by 6 to 30 years in prison; possession of more than 5,000 grams, which carries 4 to 15 years; unlawful use of marijuana-product-making equipment and possession of 50 to 200 plants, each punishable by 3 to 7 years; and felon in possession of a firearm, which carries 2 to 5 years.

He has a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
