State board fines, freezes edible cannabis maker Frozen Budz … – Fairbanks Daily News

FAIRBANKS—Fairbanks-based Frozen Budz, one of the largest manufacturers of cannabis edibles in Alaska, lost its license and was fined $500,000 last week after products reportedly tested positive for mold and too much THC and three former employees made damning statements to the Alaska Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office.

“The licensee disregarded marijuana industry regulations and put the public at significant risk by selling products that were not safe, tested or tracked,” Peter Mlynarik, chairman of the Alaska Marijuana Control Board, said in a prepared statement.

The board met telephonically on Friday. This is the first cannabis business to have its license revoked by the regulatory panel, according to Erika McConnell, director of the Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office.

Frozen Budz also has a retail license, and the retail store off of Van Horn Road remains open.
