‘Everyone is really happy’: Outside Lands 2019 mellows out with legal pot sales

For the first time in Outside Land’s history, marijuana was legally for sale at the 12th annual San Francisco music festival.

Grass Lands, the cannabis-themed activation at the three-day outdoor event Friday-Sunday Aug. 9-11, was much like a food hall but for the buying and consuming of pot-laced gummies, marijuana-infused water and fat joints. And as excited people were for the unprecedented move, the area stayed remarkably chill throughout the weekend.

Volunteers at a medical tent inside the area said they treated mostly blisters and rolled ankles during the three-day festival, adding that they didn’t notice many people “overdo it.”
