Regulators and financial watchdogs have been hot on crypto’s trail with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation cracking down on sham ICOs while the US Securities and Exchange Commission blocks the path to a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund.

The International Monetary Fund has joined the caution chorus, issuing a warning about the rapid growth of bitcoin and digital assets, according to a Forbes report.

The concern is that digital assets may create “new vulnerabilities in the international financial system” as the old-school financial world adjusts to the emerging technology.
