Hiram Township weed grower gets 90 days in jail – Record

RAVENNA — One-half of a Hiram Township couple caught growing a large amount of marijuana and making marijuana edibles for sale will soon be serving a three-month jail sentence.

Joshua M. Payne, 39, of 7738 Tiolki Lane, was sentenced Tuesday, May 29 to 90 days in the Portage County jail starting on June 11, followed by four years probation, as ordered by Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman.

While on probation, Joshua Payne must find and keep a full-time job or show proof he is disabled and unable to work, attend two recovery meetings per week for one year and complete the court’s Repeat Offender Cognitive Intervention Program, Pittman ruled. His driver’s license was suspended for one year with privileges for probation, work, counseling and recovery meetings as long as he is valid to drive, while fines and costs totaled more than $611.
