BOSTON — A state panel has given a tentative OK to cannabis bars and cafes, where marijuana can be bought and consumed, as well as home delivery services.
The five-member Cannabis Control Commission on Thursday signed off on draft regulations to implement the recreational pot law approved by voters last November and later modified by the Legislature. Retail pot shops and other businesses are expected to open next July.
“We have tried to use our best judgment to honor the will of the voters by making adult use of marijuana accessible,” said Commission Chairman Steven Hoffman. “This industry will evolve, and we’ll continue to be dedicated and obsessive about making it as safe as possible.”
A 25-member advisory council made recommendations to the commission, many of which draw upon laws in other states that have legalized weed. Public hearings will be held on the regulations over the next several months and rules could
