A man who caught growing more than 180 cannabis plants at his home said he’d done it for his own pain relief.
Personal trainer Carl Oare, 43, had 182 plants at various stages of growth with a potential yield of between 5-7kg and a street value of £50-70,000.
The prosecution at Mold Crown Court accepted it was for his personal use.
He was said to have ingested the cannabis in various ways – using it for cooking so he could eat it to reduce the pain.
Oare of St David’s Close, Ewloe, near Mold, admitted producing the class C drug but escaped an immediate prison sentence.
He received an 18 month prison sentence suspended for two years and was ordered to carry out 300 hours unpaid work.
Judge Niclas Parry made a destruction order for the plants
